Carrot Halwa (Gajar ka halwa) is one of the most popular Indian dessert which is known to have originated in North India. It is a delight to have gajar halwa during the winter days as it keep the body warm. Carrot halwa is a traditional & slow cooked recipe of grated carrots, milk, ghee, sugar, nuts etc.

Health Benefits of Gajar Ka Halwa

Carrots are loaded with Vitamin A which is very good for eyes. It is also a good source of Fiber, Vitamins C & K. Milk in Gajar Halwa adds calcium and protein. Raisins are known to be an antioxidant rich fruit. According to latest research, falcarinol - compound present in carrots, is largely responsible for the reduced risk of lung, breast and colon cancer.

Step 1

Peel the carrots and grate it

Step 2

Simmer it in milk with 3-4 seeds of cardamom to evaporates liquid.

Step 3

In another container, heat ghee and add the carrot mixture into it.

Step 4

Cook for 10-15 minutes over a gentle flame.

Step 5

Stir in sugar & cook until the halwa turns deep reddish color.

Step 6

Mix dried fruit into it and serve.

Hint : Serve it hot for delicious taste.

One can also add cashew nuts according to taste.

6-7 Tablespoon sugar
6-7 tablespoon cow ghee
Rasin 7-8 pieces
1 tablespoon shredded almonds
2 tablespoon chopped dates
1 - 1/2 litre milk
8 green cardamoms
